Classical Fun - The Primary Department Production of 'The Minotaur'
The smell of fresh paint may have been in the air and mysterious occasional sounds of building bumps and thumps off-stage in the distance at Britannica International School's new location in Kakukk út 1-3, 1121 Budapest, but nothing was going to put the young Primary School actors off their stride in their lively production of 'The Minotaur Show' which opened as a curtain-raiser to the school's auditorium.
The show was full of humour and pace and saw zestful performances from its young participants. Yoon Su Oh (11) changed gender to play the role of Theseus and sang his songs sweetly indeed and Long Nguyen Phi (10) made a splendid job of the equally beautifully voiced King. But the evening belonged to the genuinely scary Virág Rédai (11) as the wicked Queen who commanded the stage as much as she domineered her cowering villagers.
I have the feeling we'll be hearing more of her one day in the acting world...
