Hungary's longest established British international school, Britannica International School, Budapest was founded in 1996 by a group of distinguished educationalists

Britannica opened its doors as the first British international school in Budapest, with full accreditation from the Hungarian Ministry of Education and the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Since then, many things have changed, but our mission remains the same; to offer students the best learning opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment.

Britannica was originally housed in a school built in the 1960s, but after having joined the Orbital Education family of schools in 2011, the school moved into a purpose-built, award-winning school building complex situated in the prestigious, leafy residential area of the XII district in the Buda Hills.

We are currently the only international school in the country to be a fully accredited member of both the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Britannica is also the only school in Hungary that offers the gold standard A Level qualifications, recognised as the best pre-university course leading to first degree university entrance worldwide.
