Competitions amongst International Schools
Britannica organizes various competitions amongst international schools in Budapest. There are sport fixtures throughout the year. We have also organized an International Art Competition to celebrate EU accession, and this year a Poetry Reciting Competition in the prestigious surroundings of the British Embassy (March).
Work experience for Year 11 (June)
After IGCSE examinations the students of Year 11 spend a week in local businesses learning about the world of work.
Students on Graduation Day
Typical events in a school year
International Day (October)
A very special day when our students perform music, dance and drama in national themes from around the world related to their home countries and a sumptuous international feast is provided by our parents.
Christmas Concert (December)
An evening of students' music, poetry and drama in very prestigious surroundings. Parents, students and special guests end the evening with a buffet supper, drinks and seasonal celebrations. It is hoped that this year the Christmas Concert will take place in the British Embassy as in years past.
Carnival Fashion Show (February)
Britannica celebrates the end of winter with creative talent on the catwalk. Our students design and model their own haute couture in certain themes. Well-known judges from the Budapest fashion world award the prizes.
Skiing (February)
The school takes a party of students to Austria to ski during our half-term break. This is an optional trip.
Spring Festival (April)
An afternoon of fun and games for young and older, and of course more international cuisine. On this particular day students create and play amusing games, cook their national dishes for sale to our visitors, and so raise money for school improvement projects and local charities.
Graduates' farewell and ball
We say good-bye to our Year 13 students with a special ceremony in our school. In the evening we hold a ball for our leavers, their parents and teachers in one of Budapest's hotels or restaurants.
