Uniform

The wearing of school uniform in School is compulsory.

The colours of the School uniform are navy blue and white. Please see the uniform code for Britannica students below. In any case where there is a dispute as to whether a certain item of clothing is acceptable as School uniform the School shall decide upon the matter.

Headwear No scarves or other outdoor clothing should be worn in lessons.
Upper body
  • Summer uniform is allowed from Easter to the October half term. Winter Uniform is therefore from October half term to Easter. The summer uniform is a white polo shirt which MUST have the School badge.
  • Shirts – both in the primary and secondary department - must be white and have a collar. Shirts must be tucked into trousers, shorts and skirts.
  • In the Primary Department, white shirts or plain white polo shirts (with the School badge) are required. Primary students can opt for both shirts and polo-shirts in the winter and summer period, too.
  • In the Secondary Department, shirts must be worn throughout the winter period. A shirt must always be worn with the School tie. Only the summer uniform allows students to wear plain white polo shirts (with the School badge). If a polo shirt is worn the tie is not required.
  • A navy blue school sweatshirt (only available from our online suppliers) is acceptable throughout the School. The sweatshirt must have the school logo on it. A sweatshirt without the logo is not acceptable.
  • Students in the Secondary Department are allowed to wear plain V-neck navy blue sweaters. No hoods are allowed.
  • Sixth Form students must follow the staff dress code.
  • There must be no logos – except the one of Britannica - names, slogans or designs on any clothing.
Lower body
  • Trousers, tailored shorts or skirts must be navy blue. Leggings or “stretchy trousers” are not acceptable. Skirts should be no more than 10 cm above the knee. 
  • Under no circumstances may jeans of any colour be worn. 
  • Summer uniform allows Key Stage 1 students (girls) to wear navy blue & white checked dresses, only available from our online suppliers.
Shoes Shoes must be black or dark brown with black or dark brown laces. High heeled and platform shoes are not allowed for Health and Safety reasons. Socks must be white or plain dark colours. Stockings for girls should be plain navy blue, black, white or flesh coloured. No patterned stockings are allowed.
PE Uniform
  • PE uniform consists of House coloured polo shirts, navy blue “bottoms”, PE socks and trainers. 
  • In swimming class girls must wear one- piece swimming costumes of black or dark blue colour. Boys’ swimming trunks should also be dark-coloured with no patterns.
  • No body piercing of any kind is allowed except for a single pair of small earrings in the ear lobes. Tattoos must not be visible at any time whilst in School.
