The Humanities Department at Key Stage 3 comprises Geography and History, and at Key Stages 4 and 5 presently includes Business Studies, Economics and Psychology. We endeavour to get students to recognise the interconnections between them. The Humanities Department inspires students to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world and their values and responsibilities to others.

In Geography we apply the latest theories on geographical processes and patterns to real places through the use of contemporary case studies taken locally and internationally. We also use technology and collaborate with other departments to ensure that the study of Geography is interesting and relevant to our students.

In History

...our aim is for all students to become budding historians, inquisitive about the past and better equipped to understand the world today. Lessons are designed to be as interactive as possible where students discuss, question and debate issues and seek explanations about key moments in history. With plenty of opportunities to make presentations, act out scenes from the past, conduct independent research, carry out project work, our history courses are not just about books and essays.
