Britannica International School, Budapest offers the best of British Education with an international outlook

At Britannica, we challenge and nurture our students to become responsible, respectful and resolute global citizens.

Within our caring and vibrant international community, they evolve into independent and inquisitive lifelong learners, happily striving for excellence in everything they do.

What makes Britannica International School, Budapest unique?

Britannica is supported by Orbital Education who provide access to the latest educational thinking and innovative teaching methods from the UK, which enable us to deliver the highest quality education for our students. We are the first international school in Hungary to be fully accredited by both CIS (Council of International Schools) and COBIS (Council of British International Schools), leading organisations for British schools, and are regularly quality assured by both organisations.

Excellent teachers are at the heart of our school and positively influence the success of young minds. All our teachers are fully trained, carefully selected for their experience and excellence, dedicated to providing a premium education, preparing our students for their future success.

The British school traditions of academic rigour balanced with personalised care and support for each individual are integral to our ethos here at Britannica. Our teachers really get to know their students as individuals, adapting lessons to meet each of their needs and ensuring that they develop into happy, well-rounded, confident young people.

We pride ourselves on being a truly international school community, welcoming over 50 nationalities from the world over. We forge close relationships between students, parents and teachers, and tailor our curriculum to take full advantage of the opportunities that our vibrant multicultural community offers to collaborate, learn from each other and develop a truly global perspective.

As an inclusive international school, our academic excellence makes us incredibly proud. Our students consistently make better progress in their subjects than the global average - a remarkable achievement given that many of our students are non-native English speakers. Our examination results are outstanding. 43% of our IGCSE results, and 63% of our A Levels, are at the top A* and A grades, with a 100% pass rate at both, well over the global averages. When they leave us at the end of Sixth Form, all of our graduates continue their studies in their first choice universities around the world.

Our co-curricular provision is equally strong, and we encourage our students to try new activities to enhance and broaden their skills and knowledge, be it in sports, chess, choir, robotics, languages, debating or through the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Our House system adds to the overall British school experience, fostering a sense of team spirit and unity, with older students leading their younger peers in a series of House challenges that everyone, including teachers, gets actively involved in.

Our Values guide us every day:

Our School is a community for effective teaching and learning. We seek to develop self-esteem and enjoyment in learning through a stimulating and supportive environment that provides everyone with opportunities to achieve beyond their potential in the intellectual, physical, moral and social domains.
